CROCHET PATTERNS (Flower Pattern #81 Forsythia) – 365 Crochet Flowers Bouquet Project


Forsythia is a flowering deciduous shrub growing up to 1-3 m high. They love a full sun or light shaded hedge. The flowers are shown in early springtime before the leaves and are like shallow, yellow bells with 4 lobes.

How to Crochet a Forsythia Flower?

Crochet Yarn

  • Crochet cotton colour A = yellow, colour B = green.

Crochet Hook

  •  1mm steel hook, 1.75 mm steel hook.

Details of components

  • shallow bell with 4 lobes separated at the base
  • tiny stigma in the centre
  • 4 round sepals.

Crochet Flower Pattern

Start: using A and 1.75mm hook, make 4ch, join with sl st, 1ch, and continue in round

R1: 4sc in ring, join with sl st, 1ch,

R2: (1sc, 9ch, skip 2ch and make dc in next 6ch and 1sc in last ch, 1sl st in the next sc in the ring) repeat 4 times. Fasten off A. Push the petals inside out so that they will curl upwards.

Start: using B and 1.75mm hook, make 6ch, skip 1st ch and make 5sl st; continue with 4ch, join with sl st, 1ch, and continue in round

R1: 4sc in ring, join with sl st, 1ch,

R2: [(1sc, 2dc, 1sc) in next sc] repeat 4 times. Fasten off B.


Start: using 1mm hook and 3 strands of colour A make 5ch. Fasten off A.


Secure the stigma inside the ring. Attach the sepals at the back of the bell.Forsythia assembly

    Hi am stuck on the part where the pattern says to push the petals inside out…how do I do this please. Is it inside through the ring or….? Mine does not look like your 2nd photo it’s very spaced out petals on my flower. Please can you help.
