About Persian Cyclamen
Persian Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum) is a herbaceous perennial plant native to Asia – from Turkey to Israel and Jordan. We’re lucky to get these beautiful plants as cultivars most everywhere in the world these days.
The plant has green heart shaped leaves marbled with lighter green. The flowers bloom in winter and spring months. They have 5 sepals and 5 upswept petals. The native ones have colour ranging from white to pink with a band of darker pink or magenta at the base. My cultivar has scarlet colour and a dark burgundy band at the base.
