CROCHET PATTERNS (Crochet Flower Pattern #144 Primula polyantha) – 365 Crochet Flowers Bouquet Project

About Primula polyantha

Primula is a herbaceous spring flowering plant grown for its beautiful flowers. The genus includes the primrose, cowslip, oxlip and auricula. Primula polyantha, or Polyanthus is a hybrid obtained from crossing coloured varieties of Primula vulgaris and Primula veris.

Polyanthus plants are grown as annuals and have tall-stems and multi-coloured strains. Highly regarded by gardeners, Polyanthus Gold Lace dates back to the mid-1600’s. The flowers have 5-6 heart-shaped burgundy petals with a yellow eye and a yellow edging.
