CROCHET PATTERNS (Pattern #65 Fuchsia Antique Pattern) – 365 Flowers Bouquet Project

Introduction

In case you might ask yourself what to use these flower patterns for… join our 365 Crochet Flowers Project Group on Ravely and check out what other crochet enthusiasts are doing with them.

I had in mind for some time to design a crochet pattern for the fuchsia flower. While the flower in the photo is a hybrid with a double flower called “Dollar Princess”, fuchsia grows wild in Ireland and it’s such a beautiful sight along roadways. The flowers are bell-shaped with violet petals surrounded by red sepals.

There are a few fuchsia patterns designed already and I was going to attempt my own version, but have changed my mind at the last minute and after a short deliberation I’ve decided to re-make an antique crochet from Eléonore Riego de la Branchardière, Crochet Book 07 (1850) followed by my own design tomorrow.

How to Crochet a Fuchsia Flower?

Crochet Thread

  • embroidery cotton colour A = deep pink, colour B = pink, colour C = green.

Crochet Hook

  •  2mm steel hook.

Details of components

  • bell-shaped flower
  • pink filaments with stamens.

Crochet Pattern

Eléonore’s design is quite interesting. She used it as a tassel for a lovely bag. I followed the instructions almost entirely and had very little to modify. I used the pattern for the flower tasssel and for a small leaf.
