A native of South Africa, Watsonia, also known as Bugle Lily, was introduced in Australia in the mid-19th century. The plant produces erect spikes of beautiful flowers. It managed to displace the native flora in some areas over the years turning into a real fire hazard during hot summers.
Louise’s photo shows the spikes of a Watsonia borbonica with its pink trumpet shaped flowers making a charming display.
